All Legends of Runeterra collectible cards are in-universe League of Legends. The gameplay is colorful card battles between two opponents one on one.
At the beginning of the game, each player has a so-called Nexus, which has 20 health points and a mana reserve equal to zero. Before the start of the round, players receive four cards from a pre-composed deck. Before the start of the match, it is possible to change cards to any other from your own deck. Replaced cards do not go to the discard pile, but are returned to the deck.
After the card distribution phase, the battle begins. One of the players gets an attack token, the other gets a defense token. The one who received the attack token has the right to attack his opponent with the cards that are in his hand.
After the end of the turn, the tokens are swapped, and the player who went in the previous round will now be forced to wait for his turn with the token protection. Also, each of the players receives an additional one card from his deck, and his mana pool is increased by one unit. The maximum amount of mana that players can accumulate is 10 units.
Mana stones are fully replenished with the beginning of the turn of the player who received the attack token. These stones are required to play playing cards from your hand. If the player did not have time or did not want to use all the mana he has, the remaining mana stones are converted into a spell card. These spell cards must be played on your next turn or they will simply disappear.
There are three types of cards in the game:
The most powerful cards are those that depict champions, because under certain conditions they are able to increase their level and turn into a more powerful version of themselves. Follower cards are normal cards with no upgrade stages, but spell cards apply certain effects to the opponent's cards or their Nexus.
The ultimate goal of the game is to destroy the enemy Nexus while maintaining your own.
